Amsterdam in Winter

The Rijksmuseum

Amsterdam in winter is chilly, with bare trees, lots of clouds and the threat of rain. However, when blue skies emerge with the sun, the city beckons with long, ambling walks over bridges or a ride down its many canals.

Bundled up and braced against the cold of winter, getting lost in its streets is a colorful adventure.

Why walk when you can bike?

When the sun shines, an outdoor cafe seems like the best place to be. With some bitterballen (fried cheese) to warm me up, I like to sit back and people-watch the afternoon away.
