Chocolateria San Gines in Madrid

One of my favorite past-times when visiting cities all over the world is finding myself a good cafe with atmosphere, grabbing a drink and a bite to eat and spending a couple hours people-watching.
Passage of San GinĂ©s, 5, Madrid, Spain
When in Spain, it's a given that you have to indulge in tapas and sangria and at least have paella once. But under no circumstances should you go to Madrid and miss chocolate con churros at the venerable Chocolateria San Gines.  Sure, you can have this heavenly Spanish pairing anywhere in Spain, but believe me when I say that San Gines makes the best (I tried it everywhere in the name of research, alas…)
Don't think that this is ordinary hot chocolate or Mexican churros. Spanish churros are light, without a sprinkling of sugar or cinnamon like their Mexican counterparts. They are intended to be dipped into Spanish hot chocolate which is a thick, strong and rich concoction so dark as to be black and has just the right amount of sweetness.
