One of my favorite past-times when visiting cities all over the world is finding myself a good cafe with atmosphere, grabbing a drink and a bite to eat and spending a couple hours people-watching.
75 Av. des Champs-Élysées, 75008 Paris, France
I came upon Laduree a long time ago, in the olden days when French macarons were unknown and cupcakes were all the rage.Yes, ancient times.  Now Laduree has cafes all over the world, even New York, and you can get a box of pastries from the airport kiosk before flying home.  Often imitated - yet, there is still nothing so delightful as visiting the original cafe on the Champs Elysees - that is if you don't mind braving the long lines - the inevitable curse of popularity.

Such pretty windows.

There is just something so quintessential Parisian and delightful about an afternoon Viennoise cafe and macaron ... or four.

To escape the crowds, reserve a table in the upstairs floor and have a meal.  They do serve food other than gorgeous sweet confections.
